It was a high price to pay. A life. Several in fact. Yet it was wagered away rather simply.

Sure they were sometimes forced to play our games, but regardless, if they would win they would survive. After all, we play the same stakes.

"G1, we have acquired the newest players."

"Excellent G2. And who are our foes?"

"Well... Pirates."

"Inform G3 and G4. Let the Deadly Tournament commense."

----

When Sparky was captured along with Lady Riddle, Truth and Sarah Grace, she wasn't expecting the masterminds behind it to be the Game Masters.

She could feign ignorance but there was little point. She had went willingly so captured was probably the wrong word. Still... This situation...

"You are telling me that we just went willingly to games that will probably end with us dead." Sarah Grace deadpanned.

"Well only if we lose!"

"Sparky, I'm a trickster and you cheat at everything. What about the other two. Your saying we'll die if we lose."

"The Game Masters allow the 'Challenger' to pick the game to their deadly  tournament."

"They wouldn't bet their lives on something if they could lose Sparky" Truth sighed.

"... Okay, time for me to own up. I can't leave now I know it's the Game Masters. We are in their HQ, which frequently moves and this opportunity won't come up again. The GMs are Trappers. They keep the souls if they win. As a Reaper, it's a personal insult for such a thing to occur, especially since if I play I have the power to stop them. If you all survive until my game, I can finish it but-"

"I don't see we have much choice in the matter. Anyway we may as well just win then. That removes the problem right? Worst comes to worst, the others will save us. We don't die immediately if we lose?"

"No. There's a few hours grace that would be ample enough time for the others to come."

"Good. Then let the games begin!"

"Player 1, please enter." An cold voice called through so Lady Riddle rose to her feet and entered through a strange looking door.

"Great interior design. A bit ominous for my tastes."

She was then very surprised to see the face of G1. It was a little boy.

Well, not quite. The boy certainly wasn't human, but the appearance of the 'child' certainly disarmed her for a moment before she strengthened her guard. She was Lady Riddle, the Trickster and she knew well not to underestimate her opponents.

"I am G1. What game is it that you would like to play challenger?" The child spoke, his words seeming disjointed.

"A game of cards."

"You'd bet your life on a game of chance?"

"I've bet my life on far less before."

That seemed to silence the child who seemed to be in a stupor.

And after explaining the rules she laid a card on the table. And then another. And then another.

The child did the same before picking a card.

"I win." He stated boredly.

"Not quite. Didn't anyone teach you it's rude to cheat. You were card counting but that's irrelevant with this deck." Riddle smirked before blowing carefully on the card amused at the shocked look on G1s face as the card in question held now a different number.

"Your cheating!" G1 growld angrily, rage boiling just beneath the surface of his cool exterior.

"So are you, but I'm still going to win." She grinned though she felt a little guilty. Though she knew he wasn't human and probably wasn't even a child, this game would be the death of him.

"If you quit now, you won't have to die. I won't make you."

"Unlike you I am bound to these games. If I lose, then I fade. If I quit then I won't have any souls and the same will happen. Your move."

It was to no one's surprise that Riddle chose the winning card.

Very, very interesting. I'm eager to see what game it is you have Grace play. ^-^
